Early Spring Hike at Spruce Mountain Open Space
May 15, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
Spring is the perfect time to stretch your tired muscles and hit a local trail. Join DLC on a guided hike to discover the sights and sounds of the awakening world around us. From budding leaves and early wildflowers, to the song of migratory birds, Spring is upon us. Experienced guides will show you all the signs of the change from Winter to Spring in southern Douglas County.
This moderately easy hike to the upper loop is a family-friendly event with a gentle climb through shady forests to a wide and easy trail that circles the top of the mountain. The view at the top offers breathtaking scenery of Greenland Open Space, surrounding buttes, Pikes Peak, the Palmer Divide, Carpenter Creek and thousands of acres of protected open space. It is about 5.5 miles from Spruce Mountain Road parking lot, around the Upper Loop, and a roundtrip back. Dogs on leash are welcome to join the fun.
