Summer On the Trail – Guided Hike at Spruce Mountain Open Space
July 10, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Summer is in full swing! The grasses are tall, the trees are lush, and the abundance of wildflowers along the trail makes you slow down and enjoy the beauty of it all. Join DLC on a guided hike to discover the sights and sounds of summer in southern Douglas County. Experienced guides help you look for signs of wildlife and identify local wildflowers. Enjoy an educational hike at beautiful Spruce Mountain Open Space.
This moderately easy hike to the upper loop is a family-friendly event with a gentle climb through shady forests to a wide and easy trail that circles the top of the mountain. The view at the top offers breathtaking scenery of Greenland Open Space, surrounding buttes, Pikes Peak, the Palmer Divide, Carpenter Creek and thousands of acres of protected open space. It is about 5.5 miles from Spruce Mountain Road parking lot, around the Upper Loop and back. Dogs on leash are welcome to join the fun.
Space is limited. The hike is free, but a $10 per person donation to DLC is suggested.
