Ready to take your art outside?

We’re piloting a new addition to our monthly watercolor series, beginning with Plein Air 101 at Sandstone Ranch. Perfect for those who have some painting experience at home and are curious about working outdoors, but aren’t sure where to begin.

This 101-style session introduces the essentials of plein air painting in a supportive, low-pressure setting. You’ll get an overview of different outdoor painting setups, recommended supplies, and practical strategies to help you feel comfortable creating in the field. Sue, your guide on this new journey, will lead an equipment show-and-tell, share a live demo, and offer guidance on how to start your own plein air practice.

After the discussion, you’re invited to do some sketching or painting on your own. Bring a camp chair and your own supplies if you’d like to participate. This is a great chance to experiment, ask questions, and enjoy the landscape in a new way.

Whether you’re looking to expand your skills or simply experience the creative energy of painting outdoors, this gathering is a welcoming place to start. Register here beginning 5/15.
