RANCH HISTORIES
DLC and Douglas County Libraries are working together to preserve and protect the cultural history of our conserved lands. This means archiving historical documents, interviewing landowners and family members, and saving physical memorabilia from destruction that contributes to our understanding of the past.
Additionally, our two teams- including some incredibly dedicated volunteers- are featuring rotating displays of different ranching properties and families in the Archives & Local History department and Sjostrom Family History Lounge at the Philip & Jerry Miller Library in downtown Castle Rock. Outreach activities, such as hikes on the property or presentations on the history of the land, will also be offered. To see upcoming opportunities, please visit the Events page on our website. The Sjostrom Family History Lounge is open to the public on Mondays and Fridays, and by reservation Tuesday-Thursday.
