HB26-1230 was signed into law on June 1 to extend the conservation easement tax credit for five more years. This new law extends the current sunset date from December 31, 2031 to December 31, 2036, and unlocks $50 million annually in tax credits from 2032-2036. What does this mean? A landmark financial incentive for conservation easement donations endures; one that has allowed landowners to continue the legacy of family ranches, preserve scenic vistas and cultural heritage, and connect essential wildlife habitat across the state.
A massive thank you to the work of Keep It Colorado, bill sponsors Rep. Matthew Martinez, Rep. Elizabeth Velasco, Sen. Barbara Kirkmeyer, and Sen. Dylan Roberts, as well as all of the supporters and champions who made the successful passage of HB26-1230 into law possible.
